This Causes Young Ages to Be High in Cholesterol


Young age seems safe from all kinds of health risks, such as high cholesterol. This feeling of being "safe" certainly makes you able to eat, drink, and do anything to please you. Why can the young age group get high cholesterol?
There are many factors that can cause a cholesterol surge even though someone's age is still young. This was explained clearly by Dr. Vito Damay, Sp.JP, heart and blood specialist doctors as follows.

"The cause of high cholesterol at a young age is often similar to the cause of high cholesterol in the old age group. Most of the causes of high cholesterol are obesity, lack of exercise, eating too much sugar and junk food, "he said.

Furthermore, Dr. Vito explained that if it is not balanced with exercise or sufficient physical activity, the excess calories that accumulate will become fat. This pattern of life is one of the main trigger factors for heart attacks and strokes at a young age.

So, how do you deal with high cholesterol at a young age? The first thing to do is check your cholesterol level. The American Heart Association recommends that a 20-year-old person performs a basic heart check, including cholesterol levels.

Keep in mind that this examination does not only apply to those who are overweight, but also those who are thin. If the results of the first cholesterol check are normal, you can check again every 4 or 6 years.

Next, keep your body weight ideal according to the body mass index category. Efforts to maintain weight can be done by exercising, eating nutritious foods, and applying other healthy lifestyles.

Many ways to reduce high cholesterol
Start with your daily intake. Experts say that eating foods containing saturated fat can trigger high cholesterol. Foods high in saturated fat include ready-to-eat foods (such as chicken nuggets, hamburgers, sausages) and other types of meat, milk, butter, bread, liver, and some types of seafood such as shrimp, crabs, squid and shellfish.

  • Fish, poultry (chicken, duck) without skin, and pieces of meat that do not contain fat. Food cooked by burning, baking, or boiling is better than fried.
  • Milk, cheese, low-fat yogurt. Use low-fat margarine instead of butter. Limit egg yolks, egg whites can be eaten freely.
  • Vegetables and cut fruit (not juiced) and wheat-based foods such as oatmeal and whole wheat bread.
  • Choose good oils for cooking, such as olive oil, canola oil, corn oil, sunflower oil, sesame oil, and soybean oil. Avoid palm oil.
  • Foods contain vitamin C (papaya, grapes, oranges, broccoli) and vitamin E (wheat, almonds, peanuts).

The causes of young age are exposed to high cholesterol, inevitably due to a lack of awareness to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle. Therefore, after filling the body with nutritious intake, don't forget to exercise at least three times a week for 30 minutes.
